Petrels move in, ready to start the Fall 2025 semester

On Thursday morning, August 21, the campus was filled with excitement as the Class of 2029 officially moved in! Families and first-year students were welcomed by the Petrel Moving Company – a strong team of students, faculty and staff who made carrying boxes and residence hall décor look easy.

Some students got a head start this year, with about 50 students arriving earlier for a weeklong summer bridge program. Now, after building connections, they’re ready to dive in to orientation and the semester ahead.

The weekend is packed with orientation activities designed to help new Petrels find their footing. Then, on Monday, classes kick off in full swing. Next Thursday marks one of Â鶹ɫÇéƬ’s most meaningful traditions, Convocation, where first-year students are formally welcomed and sign the Honor Code.

From Monday Night Bingo and the Student Activities Fair to a Bookfair, Foam Party, and the always-fun Quadfest, the first week is filled with fun ways to meet friends, try something new, and start collecting the experiences that can help earn an O-Pin!

Here’s to a semester full of new beginnings, big adventures, and plenty of Petrel pride!
